Edmonton frequently finds itself on lists of underrated tourist destinations, and it’s safe to say that the city deserves to be known for more than its frigid temperatures and giant mall. It’s one of the fastest growing cities in Canada, and with that comes an influx of good restaurants and things to do. Here’s a list of things that make Edmonton a great tourist destination.
Edmonton is known both to locals and travellers as a great festival cities, with hundreds of festivals taking place throughout the year, celebrating food, street art, fashion, music, and of course much more. The biggest of Edmonton’s festival, K-Days, takes place in July and extends for 10 days of entertainment.
Edmonton has a huge abundance of wildlife in the area surrounding the city. The North Saskatchewan River Valley is the longest expanse of parks in an urban setting in all of North America. Beautiful destinations like Banff, Canmore, and Jasper are all within striking distance too.
The Oilers are Actually Good This Year
Edmonton is a huge hockey town of course, and though they’ve spent years supporting terrible Oilers teams, the Oilers are currently one of the youngest, fastest and most dynamic teams in the league this year. It’s a great time to check out a game at Rexall Place and participate in Edmonton’s rich hockey history.
